THE UTV SNOW PLOW FIELD GUIDE

THE RIGHT PLOW.

START HERE / THE FIVE ESSENTIALS

Before you buy a plow,
know these five things.

A few minutes here can save a lot of confusion
when it’s time to order.

  1. 01

    Fitment comes first.

Year, model and trim matter. A shared engine size does not mean a shared mount.

    Start with your vehicle ↗
  2. 02

    Width changes at an angle.

Measure the outside of your tires. The blade should clear your tracks while angled.

    See the difference ↗
  3. 03

    Your winch lifts the blade.

Check the winch, its mounting hardware and the plow’s lift instructions.

    Understand the setup ↗
  4. 04

A kit is more than a blade.

You need the blade, push frame and the correct vehicle-specific plow mount.

    See what connects ↗
  5. 05

    Modifications change fit.

Lifts, tires, bumpers, tracks and forward A-arms can change mounting and clearance.

    Run the quick check ↗

The blade: choose width and material.

This is the face that pushes snow. Blade width, working angle and tire width determine how much ground you clear. KFI kits offer steel or poly choices; the SuperATV kits featured here use a 72-inch steel blade.

Explore blade width ↗

Component drawings explain the system; they are not fitment diagrams. The mount shown is an example; your vehicle determines the actual bracket. The matching plow mount is included in our configured complete kits. Winch inclusion varies by package.

THE BLADE-WIDTH EXPLAINER

A 72-inch blade
doesn’t always clear
72 inches.

Angle the blade to move snow to the side and its clearing width gets narrower. Start with the width across the outside edges of your tires—including your wheel offset.

Blade width

25° and 30° are examples from these product families; use your selected kit’s actual operating angles. This explains geometry, not vehicle compatibility.

Estimated clearing width = blade width × cos(working angle). Curved blade shape, surface and setup affect actual results.

STEEL OR POLY?

Different faces.
The same need for a good fit.

Neither material replaces proper setup.

TWO DIFFERENT MOVEMENTS

LIFTANGLE

Movement illustration, not an installation or cable-routing diagram.

ANGLE THE BLADE FROM YOUR SEAT

Change the angle.
Stay in the cab.

An optional power-angle kit lets you adjust the plow blade left or right using controls in the cab. It means fewer trips in and out of your UTV when you need to change where the snow goes.

Standard manual angling
Exit the cab, release the angle lock, reposition the blade, then lock it back in place. You repeat that process each time you want a different angle.

Optional powered angling
Adjust the blade from the driver’s seat. It is especially convenient when changing direction between passes, switching which side you push snow toward, or working around buildings and tight areas.

Your winch still handles lifting. The power-angle kit turns the blade left and right; a suitable winch raises and lowers it. Choose the angle kit supported by your selected plow system.

Already have a working winch?
Keep it if it’s suitable for plowing. Check its lift, fairlead, rope/cable and auto-stop instructions.

Need a winch?
KFI builders offer supported Assault winches with the mounting arrangement specified for your vehicle. Some models use an OEM integrated mount. SuperATV kit listings shown here require a winch that is not included.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Good questions
to ask first.

Still unsure? 888-716-1660

Does “complete kit” mean a winch is included?

Not automatically. A complete plow kit includes the blade, push frame and matched plow mount. KFI builders let you keep a suitable installed winch or add a supported package that includes its matched winch mount. The featured SuperATV kits require a winch that is not included. Review the component summary before ordering.

Can I plow a gravel driveway?

Surface setup matters. Adjust skid shoes and cutting-edge clearance according to your selected plow’s instructions and your surface conditions. Uneven or loose gravel needs extra care to avoid digging in or moving material. A poly blade face alone does not protect a driveway; these KFI blades still have steel wear bars.

Should I buy the widest blade?

Choose enough clearing width for your tire tracks when angled, but also consider maneuvering space, blade weight, snow load and the vehicle’s limits. A wider blade is not automatically the right answer. The width explorer above is a geometric explanation, not a fitment or load-capacity recommendation.

Will a lift kit or aftermarket bumper affect fitment?

It can. Mount height, blade geometry, winch position and clearance can all change. Some applications require leveling or drop hardware; some adapters cannot use a leveling kit. The amount of lift alone does not tell you which parts are correct. Check the exact kit’s fitment notes and installation PDFs or call us before ordering.

What should I check before the first snowfall?

Read the vehicle, plow and winch instructions. Check attachment hardware, cutting-edge condition and winch rope/cable. Identify obstacles before they are hidden by snow and plan where to put the snow. Use the manufacturer’s operating limits and safe practices; clear manageable amounts and lower the blade when parked.

What about shipping to Alaska, Hawaii or Canada?

Use our shipping quote form (opens a new tab) so we can confirm delivery options and costs. We need a physical delivery address; we cannot ship these orders to PO boxes. Components may arrive in separate packages. See our shipping policy (opens a new tab) for restrictions.
